LEARN MORE ABOUT TROPICAL STORMS: The Hurricane Hunters will fly monitor any system near the U.S. coastline. Be sure to visit their web page to learn more about how they do their jobs and what they do. If you are interested in keeping up with the flights in real-time, you can do so via Google Earth. Once installed, you can download the KMZ file for Google Earth. You can also download KMZ files to track hurricanes on Google Earth (click on the "weather and storm tracking" link.) Also, remember, be careful jumping to conclusions when checking the hurricane models. Most models can only be evaluated three days out. Also, intensity models are very unpredictable. The National Hurricane Center takes a balanced approach when evaluating all this data as they look at the models and temper them with human judgment and experience.
