Moody Library Resources for Online Education Students: K-12 Resources

This guide is designed to be used primarily by online education students.

K-12 Databases

HCU's library has access to a number of databases that cover periodicals and other information designed for students in the K-12 grades.

K-12 Textbook Collection

Moody Library has a collection of Texas state adopted textbooks called the Curriculum Collection.  It is located on the 2nd floor in the far corner behind the Bound Periodicals.  The collection does not include all of the state adopted textbooks, only a sample of textbooks in the areas of study in which the School of Education certifies teachers. Books in this collection are marked in the catalog with a Curr. before the call number.

We recommend that online students seek alternatives to borrowing curriculum materials from the HCU library.  The books are in heavy demand, and are expensive to transport.  As an alternative please look for the following sources:

  1. Textbooks at your local school district, if you are affiliated with a school district.
  2. Textbook collections at your Regional Education Service Center.
  3. Please click the link to the Texas Education Agency page for the Texas Education Service Centers.

HCU's Collection of Children's Literature

Moody Library has a small selective collection of library materials covering material suitable for early childhood through high school.  This collection is called the Youth Collection and it is located on the second floor near the Bound Periodicals and the Curriculum Collection.  New materials added to this collection are chiefly prize winning children's titles, including Newbery and Caldecott winners and honor books, Coretta Scott King Award winners and honor books, Bel Pre winners, etc.
