If you are not used to using subject headings try searching these suggested phrases as subjects:
Use the Library's Classic Catalog Searth to find books that are owned by the library. You may browse by Author, Titles, Subject, or Series or you may use a keyword search if you know only a few words of the title. The catalog includes not onlypaper books that are located on the library's shelves but also e-books that must be accessed online.
Moody Library uses the Library of Congress Classification System. The call numbers are related to the item's main subject. This makes browsing books by subject on library shelves very simple. Once the correct subject area or call number area is found, one can simply find the call number for one good book, and browse that call number area for other good books on the subject.
Remember that some books may be placed in different locations such as the New Book Shelf, the Reference Desk, or the Reference Collection. Most of the books on the second floor are circulating books. These can be checked out with an HCU ID and current semester sticker.
If the searcher has no clue as to what subject to use, he should consult the red Library of Congress Subject Headings reference books, whichare available at the Reference Desk. Please ask for assistance as needed. One may also search here at the Library of Congress site.
Note: If the searcher finds a record that fits his/her needs, the searcher can check that record for subject headings assigned and click on the hyperlinked words to run another search in the catalog for more books with the same subject/s.
Some books can be accessed from the sources above electronically.
When using the Classic Browse Catalog Search: Ebso e-books will have the word "Ebsco" before the call number and/or "electronic book" in the book record . Click on the acronym "URL" for access to Ebsco books from the Classic Browse Search Catalog. Sign in with your own created account.
