How Can I Get A Refund?

PRINT REFUND POLICY

Neither the library nor ITS provides any cash refunds for printing. Also, any unused money on your print account cannot be refunded. For more information about refunding unused money, please contact HCU Information Technology Support at 281-649-3410 for visit them on the second floor of the Brown Administration Building on the Fondren Road side.

The library will, however, credit your HCU MyPrint printing account under the following circumstances:

I. Problems that are eligible for refund

  • Paper jams (bring flawed pages
  • Poor print quality including too little toner, too much toner, or streaking (bring flawed pages)
  • Goobledegook or gibberish (bring flawed copy for verification)
  • Jobs stuck in the print queue or in an Error state and can’t be released.
  • Or…anything equipment or system problem

II. NOT Eligible for refund

  • Too many pages
  • Misspellings or punctuation errors
  • Wrong Pagination (wrong page numbers)
  • Printed the wrong document
  • Printed too many copies
  • Printed on the wrong printer (or intended black and printed to color or vice versa)
  • Printing duplex and intended single side
  • Printing single-side and intended duplex
  • Someone picked up my document
  • Or…anything that you could have checked with Print Preview or clicking manually

III. Refunding Unused Monies

  • The library is unable to restore unused money back to your personal bank accounts. For serious issues, bring receipts and documentation to HCU Information Technology Services office on the second floor of the Brown Administrative Quadrangle (the side toward the parking lot). We recommend checking your account regularly and keeping it below $5.00 to avoid problems.

IV. Reporting Process:

  • Save copies of print problems.
  • It is best to submit a ticket on the HCU Help Desk website. If you are on a campus desktop (library, lab, etc.), it works best if you use Internet Explorer and go to the HCU Portal. You will not have to log in! Just click the Help Desk button in the top center

V. Ways to Reduce Printing Problems

  • Proofread your work and check Print Preview.
  • Check to see what is listed as the default printer (green check). Click the intended printer.
  • Double-check your printing preferences (duplex, single, page numbering, etc.).
  • Check the print queue to be sure your document (look for your username) is listed.
  • Retrieve your document immediately.
  • Check your MyPrint balance regularly.Sometimes documents not shown in the queue are not there because there is not enough balance to print.
