Below are descriptions of different types of physical youth books in Moody Library for students in the Children's Literature class to use.
"Youth Books" section, which includes:
Children's Curriculum Kits: Kits designed for teachers and education students to use for children's curriculum instruction. Moody Library has kits on different subjects such as Math and reading, as well as kits in the Spanish language. The kits are, unfortunately, outdated but they can still be used as examples of curriculum instruction. Also included in this section of the library are large picture books for early reading classes.
Children's reference books: The reference area in Moody Library (pictured below) includes the Children's Core Collection, a reference book that recommends readings in several different genres for children aged preschool to grade six. There are additional reference books that may assist education students in writing papers and completing projects, such as the International Companion Encyclopedia of Children’s Literature. The librarians are here to help students to find other reference books if needed.
Popular reading: The popular reading shelf is located at the front of the library and houses books meant for leisure reading rather than for scholarship. As such, this collection is to encourage reading for pleasure and relaxation. While these popular reading books are mostly adult fiction, some young adult fiction is included such as the Harry Potter series.
