You are a Business Major taking an Entrepreneurship class.  How does the Small Business Act relate to Entrepreneurship?

You will need to be able to find Legal cases by name and citation.

How can you find these?

Go online to The United States Code Popular Name Table.

On the right click on the letter "s".

Scroll down until you see Small Business Act with these citations: Pub. L. 85-536, Sec. 2 (1 et seq.), July 18, 1958, 72 Stat. 384 (15 U.S.C. 631 et seq.)

1. Click on the U. S. Legal tab. 

2. Click on Federal Statutes, Codes & Refulations,  this defaults to the United States Code Service which will search the latest edition.

3. This defaults to all 50 Titles of the United States Code. 

4. Search Box 1 type in 15 USC drop down box pick by Citation.  In the second search box type Small Business Act and search by Everywhere. Now Search.

After opening Library Database called Lexis Nexis Academic-

1. Click on the U. S. Legal tab. 

2. Click on Federal and State Cases; this searches both Federal and State cases simultaneously.

3. Use the Look Up a Legal Case. By Party type in Arthur Young & Co. in the first box by the "v". In the second box on the other side of the "v" type in United States. Search.

4. You can also search this from the Federal and State Case form by typing 465 U.S. 805 by Citation.

How do you find the legal citation above?

The first number, 526 is the volume number of the Law Reporter you will find the case.

The  "U. S." is an abbreviation for the Law Reporter.

To find what the abbreviation stands for click this to view a guide from the Tarlton Law Library at the University of Texas.

U. S. stands for the United States Reports.  Make sure you check all citations for the correct edition.

137 stands for the page one would find this case, (Kumho Tire Co. v. Patrick Carmichael).

1. Use the Look up a Legal Case form.. 

2. Type in the citation. .

3. Search.. Only one hit is retrieved.
