If one is searching for an author as a subject one uses the same format used for author searching, (last name, first name etc.).
Remember one is searching for material ABOUT the author.
Use the Drop Down Menu and pick Subject. Search.
After one pulls up any record in the catalog, one can hit the hyperlinked subject to run more searches.
The correct format for searching for Eudora Welty as a SUBJECT is Welty, Eudora.
