How many times have you started to write a research paper and wondered what does the law say about this?

Megan's Law and Repressed Memories....

Situation:

You are researching the law and child sexual abuse.  What law requires communities to be notified when a sex offender moved into the area? How can you find this law? Community Notification Act or Megan's Law

You read about Repressed Memories and want to know more. A book mentions the case Ramona v. Superior Court (decided 1997). How can you find this?

Find Megan's Laws under the Wetterling Act

To find the legal citation-

You can go online to the United States Code Popular Name Table.

Scroll down until you see the nane of the act and write down the citation.

Ramona v. Superior Court- repressed memory and sodium amytal

After opening Library Database called Lexis Nexis Academic-

1. Click on the U. S. Legal tab. 

2. Click on Federal and State Cases; this searches both Federal and State cases simultaneously.

3. For the  first search box, search by Everywhere. Type in Gary and Holly. In next box search by Party  type in Romona. Search.

4. This was decided in 1997. Look with the citation stating that.  

Note: One can also search under the first page under Look Up a Legal Case by Party Names.Use Ramona on one side of the "v" and on the other side Superior. Search.

You try to find these:

National Labor Relation Act  (may be under a different name).

Kumho Tire Co. v. Patrick Carmichael

Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaaceuticals Inc.
