General Policies for Online Students
- Online students can check physical items out of the library. We first recommend going to WorldCat.org to search for your book and going to your nearest public library and having them request it for you. WorldCat results give you an option to input your zip code to see what libraries nearest to you may have it. This will save the librarian time. If there is no option, Moody Library will pay to ship the item to you: however, students must pay the shipping to return it to us. To request items, please use the Online Student Book Request Form. Pay attention to the due date as late items will accrue a fine of 25 cents per day per item, so leave time for return shipping. Items can be checked out for 45 days and cannot be renewed.
- The following items are not available for checkout:
* DVDs
* Music CDs
* Items from Special Collections
- Texas residents are encouraged to apply for a TexShare card. You can contact our Interlibrary Librarian for the specifics and share your contact information. TexShare is a consortium of academic and public libraries across the state of Texas. Those with TexShare cards are afforded an opportunity to check out a limited number of items (usually four). We will need to verify your current HCU status. The ID card and TexShare card are required when checking out resources from an affiliating library. If an ID is required, we can send generic online ID card.
- To find other affiliating libraries in other parts of the state, visit the TexShare web site. You can use the map to zoom in to your location to find the nearest library. Please fill out the Online Student TexShare Request Form to request your card. Please following the additional instructions on the form pertaining to the HCU ID card. Cards are renewable as they expire at the end of the semester. Please use the same form and check the renewal box to obtain a new card for the next semester.
