Printing Procedures and Refunds

Moody Library has three printers available for its users:  The Student Printer, the Student Color Printer, and the Guest Printer.

Student Printers

  • The library has eight student computers plus twelve laptops from the kiosk. Also, the Academic Success Center has an additional six laptops available to check out. 
  • Laptops will have to print via the MyPrint website.
  • Payment for printing on the student printer will be done through the student's printing account.
  • Students will be charged at a cost of $.04 a page for black & white pages and $.46 a page for color pages.
  • Printing must be paid for in advance using a credit card or PayPal account.

  • Be sure to pick up your print-outs promptly.

Using the Guest Printer

  • TexShare patrons may use the computer. TexShare patrons may request one ticket per day for one hour use only. Unused minutes cannot be saved.
  • HCU students may use the computer if all the others are occupied. You may requests as many tickets as you need.
  • The computer is set for a maximum use of ONE HOUR. This is strict and cannot be adjusted. Please be prompt and complete all work or online tests within the one hour limit.
  • The guest computer has its own printer. The computer is located beside the Reference Desk.
  • Copies cost $0.10 and payment is to be made to the librarian after all pages printed. 

Printing Refunds 

The library does not provide cash refunds for printing. Also, the library does not provide cash refunds for printing. Also, the library cannot refund unused money on your print account. The library can credit your Copy Card for photocopying under the following circumstances.

 

I. Problems that are eligible for refund
  • Paper jams (bring flawed pages
  • Poor print quality including too little toner, too much toner, or streaking (bring flawed pages)
  • Goobledegook or gibberish (bring flawed copy for verification)
  • Jobs stuck in the print queue or in an Error state and can’t be released.
  • Or…anything equipment or system problem
II. NOT Eligible for Refund
  • Too many pages
  • Misspellings or punctuation errors
  • Wrong Pagination (wrong page numbers)
  • Printed the wrong document
  • Printed too many copies
  • Printed on the wrong printer (or intended black and printed to color or vice versa)
  • Printing duplex and intended single side
  • Printing single-side and intended duplex
  • Someone picked up my document
  • Or…anything that you could have checked with Print Preview or clicking manually
III. Refunding Unused Monies
  • The library is unable to restore unused money back to your personal bank accounts. For serious issues, bring receipts and documentation to HCU Information Technology Services office on the second floor of the Brown Administrative Quadrangle (the side toward the parking lot). We recommend checking your account regularly and keeping it below $5 to avoid problems.
IV. Reporting Process
  • Save copies of print problems.
  • It is best to submit a ticket on the HCU Help Desk website. If you are on a campus desktop (library, lab, etc.), it works best if you use Internet Explorer and go to the HCU Portal. You will not have to log in! Just click the Help Desk button in the top center.

V. Ways to Reduce Printing Problems

  • Proofread your work and check Print Preview.
  • Check to see what is listed as the default printer (green check). Click the intended printer.
  • Double-check your printing preferences (duplex, single, page numbering, etc.).
  • Check the print queue to be sure your document (look for your username) is listed.
  • Retrieve your document immediately.
  • Check your MyPrint balance regularly.Sometimes documents not shown in the queue are not there because there is not enough balance to print.
