Full-Text Services

Regular Services

HCU Library is pleased to provide full-text access to its resources in the following ways:

  • CloudSearch - CloudSearch is a brand new resource on the market that combines the volume of our subscription database with the volume of Open Access (OA) and OER resources (Open Education Resources) from across the internet. Articles come from well-respected publishers. The OA resources alone add over 50+ million above our subscription databases. Open Access are free, high quality academic articles, most of which are peer-reviewed but scattered across hundreds of websites. CloudSearch brings them together along with out subscription articles.
  • Classic Catalog - This is the standard book and E-book catalog similar to what most libraries use. E-book records will provide URL links to the full-text.
  • LibGuides - These are subject that support all major academic disciplines but can also support courses or other helpful topics. Links provided in the guides will take you to the full-text resource.
  • Publication Locator - Patrons can search for specific electronic journal titles in general. If users have a citation in hand, then they can explore the record to get access to a specific year or issue number to retrieve their article.

Special Services

  • Google Scholar: Google Scholar (not regular Google) can be setup to include results that are in HCU library databases. This LibGuide will explain how to setup it up to maximize your results. Be aware that you may encounter pay walls and that you cannot search Google Scholar as easily and specifically as you can library databases. Librarians can show you how to improve this skill.
