ABSTRACT:

Within society today, there is much discussion about the prevalence of eating disorders especially among female athletes. There are numerous studies pertaining to the prevalence of eating disorders as well as the causes and types of treatment for female athletes. Yet, there is little information on the prevalence of prevention strategies in place and the amount of help and treatment there is for female collegiate athletes. Within this study, I will survey approximately 50 female collegiate athletes to have a better understanding of the amount of prevention and treatment there is within the sports world. The surveys will be tallied and the results will be collected in order to have a better understanding of this perverse disorder and epidemic problem within collegiate female sports. Further conclusions and summaries will be made from the results.
