Whitley, Blake

Professor: Dr. Kylee J. Short

ABSTRACT:

This research article provides information on how athletes can acclimatize to high altitude in order to gain an advantage over an opponent, as well as several popular methods to accomplish this goal. The research is designed to inform the reader of how hypoxia effects the body, and compare them to the physiological effects of two illegally used major ergogenic aids in athletics today. A twenty-one day study by Humberstone-Gough et al. was conducted on twenty-four members of the Australian National Team in order to measure the improvements that exposure to hypoxia has on the body.
